College talk
Tuesday, April 26, 2011

This talk is the talk. Because I'm a girl who wants and is scared of independence. And college = independence. I'll talk about two things that's boggling my mind about college, the university and the course.

The university. No doubt, UST is my priority. Though I must admit that before I even knew about UST, which was in first year, UP was my dream college. I repeat, was. Why? First, it was the only university I know during that time, and second, my hopes of entering are broken and crushed. Who knew the cut-off's were big. Especially quota courses. Not that I'm breaking myself down, but I know that chances of me getting into UP with an architecture/engineering course is zero, wait, below zero. I mean, there are a lot of students out there who have the ambition (and brains) to pass the exams with flying colours. But still, getting into UP would be awesome, so if ever I pass, I'll definitely enter the ever prestigious University of the Philippines, but only if I get into Diliman. No, UPLB won't cut it. :))

The course. Oh good lawrd. This topic just fills my brain right now, it will explode. Because to this moment I am not 101% sure of the course that I'll be taking. I've thought about these courses, and I'll tell you why they are not working out for me.

  1. Engineering/Architecture - As much as I want to fulfill my parents' dream of becoming an engineer, I don't know, it's not me. At all. Although of all the engineering courses, I am definitely considering ECE. Architecture? I like designing houses. I've been drawing houses since I was a little girl, it was my doodle thing. And I still do today when my time is idle. Plus I'd like to design my own home and me and my brother would be the perfect pair since he's determined to take up civil engineering when he gets to college. I like that thought. Well, at least compared to engineering, I like architecture better.
  2. Information Systems/Computer Science - I like computers, and I've been doing really good on my IT subject, and I had fun programming. The only thing hindering me from getting this is the college I'm planning to enter, UP or UST. I'd rather take this course in DLSU, and no, we can't afford Ateneo. Plus I never really liked that. No offense to the Atenistas. So yeah. If ever I take this course, it must be DLSU. Choosy much. But I saw its curriculum and my mouth went open.
  3. Hotel and Restaurant Management - Okay, this. I really really really like this, activity-wise. You cook things! Which is really me. But my parents disapprove so psh. No further discussion.
  4. Business Administration - I'm 70% sure that this course is the one. So yehey! :) Though I am still thinking what major, finance or marketing? I still don't know. But whatever, I've always liked a business course. I just do. So I hope that in the future, this course won't fail me. In case that 70% will be a 100%.
Enough about college.

Brain Train is on the last week of May. And I have no choice but to commute from our home all the way to our school. Which I think won't be a problem since I've done it before, but only up 'til Paseo. Gah, weirdly, I want and I don't want this to happen. Because I have to do it for 3 days in a week for 2 weeks. Haha, get it? But I have to, I need to. It will serve as my training wheels for college.

I'm really looking forward to our EK gala next week! Can't wait to see my girls again. Yaaaaaay. :)

Random much?
